Traveling around, you get to meet all sorts of great people in our line of work, and you find cities like Portland, ME that you can’t help to love.

Portland, Maine is a bustling city and one of the largest within the state. Even in traffic, it only takes about 2 hours to make it across the border to Boston. The city serves as an economic hub for other nearby cities and the rest of the state.  The city has a bit over 600,000 residents and is divided into several, unofficial neighborhoods including the Arts District, Deering Highlands, Bayside, Woodford’s Corner, Cushin’s Island, Kennedy Park, Oakdale, Old Port, Eastern Cemetery, and others.

Many businesses make the corporate headquarters in and around Portland. These include Key Bank and Bank of America. Magellan Petroleum, Pioneer Telephone, and B&M Baked Beans are also part of that list. And, Portland is near plenty of other important cities in the region including Westbrook, South Portland, and Scarborough. Nearby schools include the University of Maine Law School, University of Southern Maine, University of New England, and Maine College of Art. This helps to meld the old and the new into one as those who have lived her for generations intermingle freely with young blood from the colleges and business sectors.

The Casco Bay Islands provide for plenty of enjoyment on the weekends and during the summer. The Cumberland County Civic Center offers plenty of activities year round for residents. Train collectors and railroad enthusiasts often make a trip up to visit the Maine Narrow Gauge Railroad Museum located here as well.

Part of the reason we stay busy at Maine Bed Bugs and Pest Control in Portland, Maine is because of the rich history and old buildings that the city is home to. Older buildings have drafts and have been worn down by the harsh winters and humid summers, permitting insects to find their way inside. Termites, ants, bees, cockroaches, and other pests can make their way into these homes. Remodeling jobs and updates to the home might be done of the years, but things may be missed—thinks that an experience exterminator in Maine would know to look out for.
